Enjoyable family cycling

Even if the mountains clearly exceed the 2,000m mark, you will find an idyllic cycle path along the Gail in the valley. The so-called Gailtal Cycle Path R3 is a popular route for families who enjoy cycling. The route runs along the River Gail and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.

There are many rest and picnic areas along the way where you can rest and refresh yourself.

The route leads through picturesque villages to the old town of Villach. There you can explore the town center and relax in one of the many cafés and restaurants.

The return journey is comfortable by train. After 50 minutes you are back at the hotel. If you don't want to take the full 40 km to Villach, you can always use the train stations along the route for the return journey.

By the way: the train transfer is free of charge - there is only a small transportation fee for the bikes (€ 3.90)

"Ciclovia Alpe Adria" cycle route - Tarvisio to Venzone stage

The Ciclovia cycle path - a highlight of international standing, true to the motto "Alps Adriatic" leads from the Alps to the sea. The breathtaking route along the abandoned railroad line leads over high bridges past thundering waterfalls and tunnels carved into the rock.

The dolce vita is not neglected with a spritz or cappuccino in a lively piazza, such as in Pontebba, or spaghetti and wine in one of the cozy trattorias along the route. Our tip: a stop at the old railroad station "Stazione di Chiusaforte". More cycling idyll is not possible!

Bike transportation on the Ciclovia Alpe Adria with 2 possibilities:

1) Regional cycle bus with the Venzone Tour: By bus from Lake Presseggersee to Tarvisio. Cycle to Venzone and return by bus to Lake Presseggersee.

2) By bike or car to Tarvisio. Cycle the route to Venzone and take the train back to Tarvisio.
The Alpe Adria cycle path is one of several

cross-border tours that await you on a bike vacation in the Nassfeld-Pressegger See region. Whether by train to Italy or back from there: ÖBB Italia offers special products and offers for bike travelers between the countries. You don't want to start your bike tour in Austria, but in the land of dolce vita? The Micotra regional train is your train connection to the Ciclovia Alpe Adria cycle path - it will take you from Villach to Udine for as little as € 13.
