As the name suggests, this beautiful part of Austria is no longer part of Carinthia. Nevertheless, we would like to give you a few tips for excursions. The distance from the hotel to Lienz is only approx. 55 km, just under an hour by car!
The Liebburg: representative building erected by the Wolkenstein-Rodeneggs on today's main square.
Bruck Castle: former stronghold of the Counts of Gorizia, museum with gallery of famous artists such as Albin Egger-Lienz. Knights' Hall and Gothic castle chapel.
St. Andrä parish church: the oldest church in the town with the tombstone of the last Count Leonhard of Gorizia, originally Romanesque, converted into a three-aisled Gothic basilica by the Counts of Gorizia in the 15th century.
Aguntum: the only Roman town on Tyrolean soil, a flourishing trading and industrial town in the 1st and 2nd centuries AD, today an archaeological park with the Aguntum Town Museum and an excavation area of approx. 20,000 m².
